Stories on Umbria 2018

Submissions are now open for Stories on Umbria International Journalism Award 2018 (ninth edition).

The competition, announced by Perugia and Terni Chambers of Commerce, is reserved to those articles dealing with the region’s artistic-cultural-environmental points of excellence and the high quality typical economic-productive system, bringing the national and international focus on Umbria and its territory and contributing to valorising the best of Umbrian business production.

The award is divided up into three separate sections:

Tourism, environment and culture - € 2,500

We accept photo-journalism articles published in daily or periodic national and international newspapers and magazines, including on-line ones between 1^st January 2017 and 18^th February 2018 principally dealing with the tourist, landscape, environmental and cultural heritage of Umbria. The articles must be sent together with a copy of the daily or periodical publication in which they were published (alternatively, for applications made via email, a digital copy of the daily or periodical publication may be attached).

We accept photo-journalistic articles published in daily or periodic national and international newspapers and magazines, including on-line ones between 1^st January 2017 and 18^th February 2018 principally dealing with the typical and high quality enogastronomic production of Umbria. The articles must be sent together with a copy of the daily or periodical publication in which they were published (alternatively, for applications made via email, a digital copy of the daily or periodical publication may be attached).

We accept audio-visual reports aired between 1^st January 2017 and 18^th February 2018 on national or satellite television channels or on the internet. These reports must be accompanied by a synopsis in Italian or alternatively in English.

The Committee, whose decision is final and absolute, may furthermore award the “Jury Prize” to any candidate considered particularly worthy from among the three main categories of the competition.

All applications - articles or audio-visual reports - must be received, together with the duly completed and signed candidature form (published in this page), by no later than 19^th February 2018 by the Competition Organisation Secretary’s Office (applications can be made via mail to: Camera di Commercio di Perugia, Via Cacciatori delle Alpi, 42 - 06121 Perugia – Italia – please clearly write on the envelope “Application for Raccontami l’Umbria – Stories on Umbria 2018; or via email to raccontami@pg.camcom.it).

New for 2018: the photography competition “Raccontami l’Umbria … degli Eventi”.

This competition aims to award the photograph that best represents Umbria through its rich offer of lively events and exhibitions that throughout the year are held in the region - from great cultural Festivals to historical re-enactments, from local Fairs to important music events. Participation is free of charge.

All the winners will be invited to participate in the prize-giving ceremony, held in Perugia in April 2018, during the XII edition of Perugia’s International Festival of Journalism (11^th-15^th April 2018).
