Marco Hagge, Anissia Becerra, Gemma O’ Doherty are the winners of the 2011 edition of the International Journalism Award "Stories on Umbria" set up by Perugia and Terni Chambers of Commerce.
MARCO HAGGE, from Florence, RAI journalist, is the coordinator of “TGR Bellitalia”, national TV magazine.
ANISSIA BECERRA Italian-American, is a passionate naturalist journalist, interested in the historical forms of interaction between nature, local cultures and economies. Worked for years as a freelance journalist for Bell'Italia, Gardenia, Heron (and other newspapers of the Mondadori Group G / Cairo Editore).
GEMMA O’ DOHERTY, journalist, Senior Features Writer, is responsible for the Travel section's weekly supplement of the Irish Independent, the best-selling national newspaper in Ireland
The awards ceremony was held in Perugia, April 14, 2011, as part of the official program of the International Festival of Journalism at the Service Center "Galeazzo Alessi", in via Mazzini, and was coordinated by the President of the Evaluation Committee Dennis Redmont. Speakers included George Mencaroni, president of the Chamber of Commerce of Perugia, and Agabiti Albano, Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce of Terni.
44 were the official candidates of this second edition of the Prize: 24 for the press section, 13 for the web section and 7 for the TV section, from different countries such as Italy, Australia, Brazil, Lithuania, France and Ireland. Jury reports from Spain, Holland, Belgium, Great Britain, United States. Many international newspapers were represented: NY Times, Irish Independent, National Geographic, Sunday Herald, The Telegraph, France Presse, Catavino, De Telegraaf. For Italy: RAI 3, RAI TG1, TV 7, SKY channels, Bell'Italia, Corriere della Sera, La Stampa, Qui Touring, Dove....
Marco Hagge won the award for the TV section with the "The kingdom of the waters " in "Bellitalia" broadcasted on RAI 3.
Anissa Becerra won the press section with the article "The Last Frontier "published in February 2010 by the monthly Bell'Italia.
Gemma O 'Doherty's won the web section with "Paradise Umbria: Italy's gorgeous green heart ", article published on 22 January on independent.ie.
